Mayte Espinosa se graduó de la maestría en artes MFA “Art Space and Nature” con distinción por el Edinburgh College of Art en Escocia y anteriormente estudió Arquitectura en la Universidad Iberoamericana Ciudad de México, donde recibió un reconocimiento por su trayectoria académica.

La Arquitectura despertó un interés profundo por el espacio que se extendió a su práctica como artista. Su obra esta íntimamente ligada con la percepción y entendimiento del espacio, particularmente se interesa por los espacios de la naturaleza y por la interacción que se genera entre ser humano y la misma. La Reflexión mental y física es eje central de su obra, la cual se ha materializado principalmente con la intervención en espejos, para lo cual a generado su propia técnica. También recurre a diversas disciplinas como la  cerámica, el vidrio, fotografía, video e instalación para dar vida a su obra.

Su obra ha sido expuesta en Escocia, Inglaterra, Alemania, Estados Unidos, Canadá y México. Ha realizado diversas residencias artísticas, algunas de ellas en Cove Park, Banff Centre y John David Mooney Foundation. También ha recibido premios y becas por diferentes instituciones como el Edinburgh College of Art y el FONCA.

Continua con la creación de su obra explorando nuevas posibilidades con los espacios y con las percepciones que tenemos de ellos.

Mayte Espinosa obtained her Master of Fine Arts in “Art Space and Nature” with distinction by the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland before she studied Architecture in Mexico City and obtained her degree by the Universidad Iberoamericana, where she gained a recognition for outstanding academic trajectory.

Architecture awaked in her a profound interest for the space, which was extended to her art practice. Her work is strongly connected with perception and understanding of the space, in particular she is concern with the spaces in nature and with the interaction that is generated by the human being in it. The Reflection, both mental and physical are an central axis of her work, which has being materialized mostly with interventions on mirrors, for what she has developed her own technic. Besides she uses others disciplines as ceramic, glass, photography, video and installation to bring to live her work.

Her art has being exhibit in Scotland, England, Germany, USA, Canada and Mexico. She has done several residences, some of them in Cove Park, Banff Centre and the John David Mooney foundation. Also she has obtained Awards and Grants by different institutions as the Edinburgh College of Art or the FONCA.

She continues with her work exploring new possibilities with the spaces and our perceptions of them.
